Polypipe Civils

The Client

Polypipe Civils, part of the Polypipe Group, operate from an impressive 30-acre site in Horncastle and employ around 300 staff across various disciplines. They have extensive expansion plans and are building a new extrusion plant, due to be commissioned in the summer of this year, creating further job vacancies. Polypipe Civils is the UK’s leading manufacturer of surface water drainage, sewerage, cable protection systems and water management solutions. With a worldwide client base, Polypipe place a huge emphasis on the knowledge and experience of the people they employ, offering unparalleled customer service to ensure each project receives the best possible solution.

Background

Historically, Polypipe had used several different recruitment agencies with each Senior Manager handling their own vacancies. The HR Manager had no direct control over the process and the cost to the company was considerable. Agency fees ranged between 15% – 20% of first years’ salary and a typical fee would be at least £3750. With a requirement for a high number of new employees, recruitment expenditure was increasing significantly.

The Solution

Polypipe’s Senior Management team were introduced to Root2 Recruit in 2015. They were impressed with the fully managed service and value for money and proceeded with a campaign. The success of this found them planning their recruitment budget for 2016 and buying a block of 10 campaigns, for which they received a discount.

Using Root2 Recruit, Polypipe’s HR/Admin Manager has full control of each vacancy, as well as the ability to manage their recruitment budget. The client dashboard allows access to all vacancies and eases the management of each position.

Root2 have successfully recruited for a variety of positions for Polypipe and attracted a significant number of applicants for each role. The client is presented with a shortlist of suitable candidates and so it’s easy to select the best ones for interview. Choosing a Fixed Price model means that the cost is known at the outset and being substantially cheaper than the % based fee route, the savings are impressive.

Outcome

Since working with Root2 Recruit as their preferred recruitment partner, Polypipe has saved over £150,000.00 in recruitment costs. The Engineering department alone has saved in excess of £75,000.00. They have also benefited from improvements in both their recruitment processes and staff retention.

The HR department and hiring managers particularly like the fully account managed service, the easy to use, online portal and the ability to hire multiple candidates from each campaign without any extra cost.
