We are seeking a Transport Administrator to join the friendly team of our well-known client in Horncastle on a six month contract, possibly to go permanent.  If you are used to working in a transport office this will be a great opportunity to upskill your experience to a Transport Planner, where full training will be given.  Reporting directly to the Transport Manager this position will play a key role with responsibility for the safe and timely delivery of orders, with the highest level of customer service. Working on a two shift system Transport Planners are responsible for 34 own account vehicles and a similar number of sub-contractors, dealing with approximately 90 loads daily.  If you are a passionate Transport Administrator you will enjoy being part of the development team of this exciting company, contributing to their continued growth in a proficient and professional manner.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION – Transport Administrator

  • Previous proven experience of load planning in a busy transport office, useful but not essential
  • Good standard of PC literacy and analytical skills
  • Awareness of planning programmes (DIP/Paragon) advantageous
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Knowledge of driver’s hours (tachograph)
  • Good UK knowledge would be an advantage
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills, good team player

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Transport Administrator

  • Organise and build multiple loads as cost effectively as possible using own account vehicles and sub-contractors
  • Ensure that site requirements are identified, and appropriate action taken (including booking in of loads)
  • Liaise with other departments regarding stock requirements
  • Brief and de-brief drivers
  • Advise sales department of incidents where the delivery schedule will not be met
  • Despatch and process all paperwork as required
  • Create and issue transport reports
  • Work to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal customers
  • Manage returns and collections as and when required
  • In addition to the tasks in this job description you will be expected to carry out any other task that can be reasonably expected
