Our well-established client, with operations at many of the UK’s busiest ports, is seeking a time served, Maintenance Electrician, to join their well-established team. Ideally with a minimum of three years’ experience, your primary function as the Maintenance Electrician will be to undertake servicing and repair work on mobile plant electrical systems and other associated equipment within the Docks Division. This includes assets such as forklift trucks, reach stackers, terminal tractors and LGV/HGV’s. You will be required to respond to breakdowns and failures using problem solving techniques to return equipment back into service with minimum delay. We must stress that Maintenance Electricians’ role involves working outside in all weather conditions and the ability to work at heights. Working within a 162.5 hours per month contract you will be required to be fully flexible. Personal Specification:

  • Highly motivated and proactive approach to Health and Safety legislation
  • Team player
  • Knowledge of PLC controlled equipment, as well as industrial motor drive systems
  • 18th edition IE Regs Certificate (would be advantageous)
  • Apprentice trained in Electrical Engineering, ideally with three years’ experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Knowledge of PAT Testing Regs, Inspection and Testing of Electrical Systems
  • Ability to read schematics and electrical systems drawings
  • Capable of making decisions quickly and effectively

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to breakdown and failure of all electrical equipment effectively and efficiently using problem solving techniques to ensure minimum downtime
  • Maintain and service all electrical equipment in line with pre-planned maintenance and total preventative maintenance regimes
  • Undertake all duties as directed by Team Leader and Engineering Superintendent within this multi-skilled, flexible working, environment
  • Advise Team Leader on requirements for electrical spares and contractor input
  • Travel to other ports as required
  • At all times adhere to the Company Health & Safety Policy
  • Communicate effectively with all departments and external Electrical Contractors
