Recruiting and retaining talent in Lincolnshire can be perceived as a little tricky, particularly with some of the harder to fill positions, so when we are creating a job advert, we often highlight the many benefits of living and working in Lincolnshire.
Lincolnshire really has so much going for it and whatever your hobbies are, there is likely to be something to get your teeth stuck into.
Take golf for example, did you know that we have more than 50 affiliated golf courses in the county and England Golf headquarters are situated at the Championship course, recognised as one of the best in the UK, in the lovely village of Woodhall Spa. There are also stunning courses along the coast and throughout the rest of Lincolnshire.
If road cycling is your thing then there are lots of quiet roads and lanes which take you out to the coast, through the hilly Wolds or to the beautiful city of Lincoln itself, so easily accessible by bike. There are lots of cycling groups to join and numerous charity bike rides throughout the year. Whether you’re a Lycra clad road cyclist, or looking for a family ride in the countryside, there is a route for you.
Lincolnshire is also perfect for horse riding. There are open spaces, trails and quiet lanes that are safe for horse riding. Even bridleways and country lanes are venues for riding. You do not have to be a professional rider to have an enjoyable experience but for the more serious equestrian there are various venues in the area to compete in dressage or show jumping. It is also the county of the famous Burghley and Belton Horse trials which take place every year.
Lincolnshire has many delightful market towns that still have vibrancy. From Alford, Horncastle and Louth in the glorious Lincolnshire Wolds, to Stamford and Market Deeping in the south, Lincolnshire’s market towns are many and varied. There are special farmers markets in Lincoln, Louth and Horncastle and Alford has a thriving craft market throughout the summer. Lincoln’s Christmas market is one of the main highlights of the year and takes place on the first weekend in December. For antique lovers Horncastle has much to offer along with Hemswell antiques centre and regular antique Fairs in Lincoln and Newark
The historic city of Lincoln has plenty to offer including the Cathedral, a thriving university, Art galleries and the New Theatre Royal which reopened in 2016 bringing back the best artists to Lincoln’s most loved and cherished theatre venue. You’ll never get tired of walking around the uphill area of the city, full of quaint shops, cafes and pubs.
We haven’t even mentioned good schools, leisure centres and the Lincolnshire coast making it easy to cater for the younger members of the family, but it’s easy to see what’s good about our beautiful county.
When aiming to attract talent to the area it’s definitely worth highlighting just a few of the great reasons for living and working in this region.
